Strategy to Delay Pressure Drop in South Pars Begins

TEHRAN (Shana) – The Managing Director of Pars Oil and Gas Company said signing Belal gas field’s development contract was one of the long-term solutions to prevent gas pressure drop in South Pars.

Addressing a ceremony to sign a contract for developing Belal offshore gas field on Saturday morning, Mohammed Meshkinfam said by the end of this calendar year to March 20, the remaining five South Pars platforms would be built at Sadra Company's Yard, and production of rich gas from all South Pars gas blocs (except Phase 11) would be realized.

He said that after the full development of the South Pars joint field, maintaining the production level had to be considered, adding: “Although the pressure drop has not been noticeable in this field so far, production is expected to fall by 28 mcm per year by the next 5 years.”

The official further said that well acidizing, perforation and workover are among the short-term methods to prevent pressure drop in the field.
