In response to a comment from a parliamentarian who had said that President Rouhani was considering a reshuffle in his cabinet and would remove Mr. Zangeneh from his post, the official said, “I do not know who offers such information to the MPs; I have repeatedly asked them to change their news sources because they tell lies.”

“Over the past 6 years, I have had no challenges or disputes with Mr. Rouhani,” said Mr. Zangeneh.

Iran’s government has no plans to remove Bijan Zangeneh from his post, a government spokesman said on Sunday, according to the Iranian Students’ News Agency (ISNA).

“There is no change in the government’s work program. Zangeneh has always been active and is one of the key ministers of the government,” spokesman Ali Rabiei said. “Zangeneh’s name has always been mentioned for impeachment but I hope Zangeneh continues his role in the government. Zangeneh’s role at this time is important and parliamentarians have to help.”
