During a meeting with innovators and elite technology-based professionals at the Pardis Technology Park on Thursday, the president reiterated that the issue in developing and underdeveloped countries is not a lack of solutions.
“For every problem, there are hundreds of proven solutions worldwide that can be selected and implemented. No problem exists without a solution, as effective remedies for similar issues have been designed elsewhere,” he said.
Criticizing the country’s managerial approach over recent decades, Pezeshkian noted, “For 46-47 years, we have been constantly changing managers instead of identifying and solving problems at their root. We assume that replacing individuals will automatically resolve issues, but the real challenge lies in changing methods and structures, not just people.”
Risks of disrupting resource balance
The president highlighted the challenges of imbalances across various sectors, warning of the dangers of disrupting the balance between resources and consumption.
“If we disturb this balance, we will inevitably face serious crises in the future. Every action we take must align with available resources and capabilities. Development must not proceed without considering the country’s actual capacity. Failure to maintain this balance will lead to significant, irreversible problems,” he said.
Pezeshkian stressed the role of decision-makers in sustainable resource management and development.
“Those who plan and make decisions must consider more than just one region. They must evaluate how resources like food, water, energy, and the environment will meet future needs and how they should be utilized. Globally, there is a focus on halting environmental degradation and ensuring a sustainable future. If we consume recklessly, pursue development without regard for resources, or lack precise planning, we may reach a point of no return,” he warned.
Importance of coastal areas in economic development
The president also underscored the significance of coastal regions in the country’s economic development.
“Areas like Makoran and the Persian Gulf have high potential for development. They offer greater population retention, easier access to resources like food, water, and energy, and more dynamic trade and economic activity. Therefore, developing these regions provides multiple advantages that we must leverage,” he said.
Pezeshkian cautioned against unsustainable and unplanned investments, stating, “Investing in areas without considering essential infrastructure could lead to future crises. We must not develop regions only to realize years later that vital infrastructure like water, electricity, or gas is lacking. We need to plan and address these needs now.”
The president’s remarks underscored the urgency of adopting sustainable, well-planned strategies to address systemic imbalances and ensure long-term development.
