Speaking to Shana, Hassan Montazer Torbati, the managing director of Gas Engineering and Development Company, said besides the pipeline, nearly 250 km of IGAT-9 will also come online by March 20.
"The two lines can guarantee sustainable gas transmission and exports through western provinces of the country," he said.
The official said IGAT-6 project was originally designed to deliver gas from Assaluyeh in southern Iran to the western city of Dehgolan through the southwestern city of Ahwaz, but a 100-km offshoot was added to the pipeline from the city of Kouhdasht to Bistoun in the west.
The offshoot will come on-stream this calendar year, the official added.
Being developed with 50 to 60 million cubic meters of gas delivery capacity, the pipeline will be instrumental in ensuring sustainable gas exports to Turkey and Iraq, Torbati added.
