Asghar Ajami, mechanical engineer at NISOC, has developed the unit for the first time in Iran.

The foam injection device is used in oil and gas well to repair and rehabilitate them after a buildup of water columns in their depths hindering production of oil or gas from them.

Using this device, the combination of foam and nitrogen is injected to the depth of the well, and this combination guides the water column to the surface, and in the technical sense, the wells become alive and return to the production cycle, Ajami said about mechanism of foam injection in oil and gas wells.

He stated that the device was designed by relying on his 30 years of knowledge and experience in the oil drilling sector, and said that research for the design of this machine lasted about two years, which was eventually made possible by a domestic manufacturer in the private sector.

Speaking about his motivation for designing the device, Ajami said: "This device was designed to respond to the lack of a similar domestically-manufactured sample in the country for injection of foam into oil and gas wells; the use of foam is one of the low-cost and high-efficiency methods for restoring wells that form water columns that hinder production."

He said, currently, many countries use such a device to revive their wells, which, with the design and construction of this device, Iran's oil industry also owns the technology needed for production and exploitation of such a device.
