Speaking to Shana, Noureddin Shahnazizadeh said the deal Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) members reached in Vienna on Wednesday will allow increased crude oil production by Iran which is expecting to raise crude oil recovery from West Karoon oilfields to 345,000 b/d by March 2017.
He lauded the Iranian Ministry of Petroleum for preserving Iran's interests in the global markets over the past three years by taking timely policies and increasing the country's output.
"The OPEC deal is a major achievement for our country, the petroleum industry and the people," the official said.
He also said raised production from Yadavaran, North Azadegan and North Yaran oilfield, located in West Karoon region, will improve Iran's stance in OPEC discussions.
Production capacity of west Karoon oilfields currently stands 265,000 b/d, while production capacity from the fields stands at 300,000 b/d.
