Shahidinia told Shana on Sunday that fire still continued in the south and southwestern angles.
He said the firefighting operations focused on two southern and southwestern angles.
He noted that fire in other parts had been put off and fire in 50 to 60 percent of the BDSR depot had been extinguished.
Shahidinia said the depot on fire was 5,400 square meters in extent where 4,700 tons of rubber was stored.
Part of the items were evacuated in the early hours of fire but since the fire spread too soon, it was not possible to evacuate large volume of the stored items, he added.
Shahidian provided assurances that the sections and storing units in the periphery were isolated from fire and no danger faced them.
The official said efforts are underway to get the items out of fire by loaders so as to put it off soon.
Shahidinia said 12 firefighting machines and more than six loaders were stationed in the field and efforts are underway to bring in more firefighting machines and loaders there.
The official went on to say that the fire started at 17:04 pm and the firefighting squad of Bandar Imam were so quick to rush to the site of the incident and begin the firefighting operations.
Shana reports that the Crisis Committee soon convened a section and Managing Director of National Petrochemical Company Marzieh Shahdaie and other senior directors attended the session.
Managing Director of National Petrochemical Company Marzieh Shahdaie said on Saturday that fire in the BDSR section of Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company has been successfully put off.
Shahdaie announced early Sunday morning that after hours of efforts, firefighters managed to extinguish the fire fully.
“Thanks God and efforts of all fire fighters and the management in charge, the BDSR fire was controlled and put off; the reasons of the fire will be announced in the first possible time and the scale of damage will be estimated,” Shahdaie said.
Shahdaie headed for Mahshahr Petrochemical Special Economic Zone (PETZONE) to verify the inferno in the BDSR section of Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company.
Meanwhile, Managing Director of Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company Reza Amiri said on Saturday that a panel has begun investigation of cause(s) of fire in Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company’s BDSR unit depot.
Amiri said the main cause of the incident cannot be announced yet and all guesses made in websites are not confirmed.
He said depot contained 4,000 tons of stored products and soon the precise amount of damage will be announced through the media.
He had earlier announced that the incident had left no fatality.
He said the fire had broken out in the BDSR part and has not disrupted entire activity of the facility.
In a related development, Head of the HSE Department at National Petrochemical Company Ali-Reza Narimannejad said on Saturday that fire putting off operation is in its final stage.
Narimannejad told Shana that only minor flames are remaining.
He said fortunately fire has not been spread to other sections.
"Our important and initial step is fully putting off fire and investigations will then begin on cause of the incident when the fire is fully extinguished," he added.
Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company is a petrochemical facility in Mahshahr PETZONE and its products are ethane, butane, propane, ethylene, pentane, gasoline pyrolysis, crude residue, xyelens, rafinite, heavy aromatics and Paraxylene (PX). It is the first major producer of petrochemical products in Iran for its high production capacity.
The complex owns three subsidiary companies, namely Bandar Imam Processing Company, Kimia and Besparan.
