Speaking on Sept. 1, Qalibaf said excessive energy and fuel consumption cannot be blamed entirely on the public, noting that shortcomings in the industrial sector also contribute to high consumption. Nevertheless, he urged people to conserve gasoline.
He said whenever policies have been clearly explained and properly implemented, the public has fully cooperated. He pointed to widespread electricity conservation as an example, praising people for their support.
