Dy Petroleum Min.: Feedstock Supply to Western Petchem Facilities to Resume Tomorrow

TEHRAN, July 22 (Shana) – Deputy Minister of Petroleum for Petrochemical Affairs Marzieh Shahdaie said on Friday that feedstock of facilities lying on the path of West Ethylene Pipeline will resume as of Saturday once repair operations on it are complete and the pipeline is operational.

Shahdaie said the fire, which broke out in the path of West Ethylene Pipeline on Friday, was fully contained and now initial operations are underway for reconstruction of the damaged part of the line.

She said the damaged part of the line, which is about 12 meters, will be changed speedily and will hence be operational once it is getting cold and the ethylene within is evacuated. She added that the process will be deemed complete after verification of the measures by the HSE staff.

She said the officials’ successful containment of the fire within shortest possible time is praiseworthy.

West Ethylene pipeline, stretching from south of the country to Kermanashah Petrochemical Facility, suffered leakage as a result of mountain rock falls 30 kms from Poldokhtar, a city in Lorestan Province and then caught fire. No death toll is yet reported.
