West Ethylene Pipeline on Fire Due to Leakage

TEHRAN, July 22 (Shana) – Director General of Crisis Management Office in Lorestan Province Reza Aryaie said on Friday that West Ethylene pipeline, stretching from south of the country to Kermanashah Petrochemical Facility, suffered leakage as a result of mountain rock falls 30 kms from Poldokhtar, a city in Lorestan Province.

“Fortunately, the incident left no one killed or injured,” said Director General of Lorestan Province Crisis Management Office Reza Aryaie.

Aryaie said safety measures were then adopted and fuel flow was cut, then allowing the remaining fuel burn, hence controlling the fire shortly.

National Iranian Petrochemical Company said feedstock transfer through the pipeline will return to normal in hours.

Based on latest reports, fire in West Ethylene Pipeline was checked while ago thanks to efforts of the team of firefighters and experts.

National Petrochemical Company said now the region is cleansed for likely repairs.
