Moqaddam told Shana that Minister of Petroleum is to run the tender for procurement of 600km Corrosion Resistant Alloys (CRA) pipelines for Pars Oil and Gas Company in line with its policy to indigenize production of 10 highly used oil industry products and equipment.
He said the tender will be held in September this year by the National Iranian Oil Company's Commodity Procurement and Manufacturing Support Management Department.
He added that the tender will be held on a limited basis and internationally.
He said foreign companies have offered proposals in that connection and well-credited will be invited to run the bid.
The official said the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) needs 250 kms such pipelines and the bidders will have to embark on deliver of the CRAs within the timetable foreseen in the tender announcement.
The remaining 350km will be produced gradually on a definite road map and at least 100 kms of the CRAs will be manufactured totally in Iran, he concluded.
The winner of the bid will transfer related technology to Iran as it is monopolized by a few states.
The use of CRAs in oil field application has grown in the past years and continues to grow as world-wide search is turning to deeper reservoir.
Despite the fact that CRAs are much expensive related to carbon steel, in many cases may provide an attractive alternative to conventional steel used in combination with chemical corrosion inhibitor.
The lack of recognized engineering standard and the relatively manufacturers short experience are the major concerns during material procurement and subsequent manufacturing.
