Mohammad-Tala Mazloumi pointed to the oil industry’s efforts to rebuild damaged facilities and return them to production, saying successfully getting through the cold season requires cooperation from households, industries, power plants and government agencies.

He said cutting unnecessary consumption could significantly improve gas supplies to various sectors. Adjusting home temperatures to a reasonable range, preventing heat loss, keeping doors and windows closed, using heating equipment properly and servicing heating systems are among measures that can reduce winter gas consumption without putting pressure on households.

Mazloumi said changing consumption habits, together with infrastructure development, is essential to managing energy imbalances. He said renovating heating systems, insulating buildings, replacing inefficient windows and educating consumers on the proper use of heating equipment could help cut gas consumption in the short term.

Large industrial facilities, commercial units and power plants must also fulfill their responsibilities to improve energy efficiency, he added.
