The Dam is capable of saving 550 million cu. m. water and is capable of supplying 395 million cu. m. water per year. The dam will irrigate 31,000 hectares of downstream lands through 30 km tunnel and an advanced water supply system. The project will increase farmer's revenues about fivefold and create new direct jobs for 9,300 people. Gavshan Dam is also capable of generating 11 MW electricity and can supply 63 million cu. m. potable water to city of Kermanshah until 2021. Director of Gavshan Dam project, Najaf Pahlevani also stated that the dam was capable of regulating 248 million cu. m. water per year and aimed to supply water to Bilehvar and Mian Darband dams.
