The unit is being built to curb emission of VOCs in Tabriz mega-city which is infamous in Iran for heavy air pollution from its cramped industrial parks.
The unit's designing and development is being done by Sahand University of Technology in Tabriz with financial support from Azarbaijan Sharghi's general administration of environment in northwestern part of the country.
The project is estimated to cost nearly IRR14bn. Once completed the technology helps the company meet emission standards by achieving almost all solvent recovery while also bringing operational advantages to its production processes.
Meanwhile, Tabriz Petrochemical Plant is also planning to start working on a Clean Development Mechanism for minimizing its emissions and become more environmentally friendly.
