According to president.ir, Pezeshkian met Yılmaz in Tehran, where the Turkish delegation had traveled to attend a ceremony honoring Iran's martyred Leader. The president thanked the government and people of Turkey for their condolences and support, describing them as a reflection of the deep historical, cultural and religious ties between the two neighboring nations.
Pezeshkian also condemned recent attacks by the United States and Israel against Iran, saying the actions violated the principles of the UN Charter and international law. He said the attacks killed Iran's Leader, senior military commanders, government officials, scientists and civilians.
The president referred to Israel's fueling divisions across the Islamic world and called for greater unity among Muslim countries. He said stronger cooperation in economic, scientific, cultural, political and security fields would promote regional development, stability and prosperity while reducing external interference.
Pezeshkian praised Turkey's stance during the recent regional crisis and said relations between Tehran and Ankara have significant potential for expansion. He stressed that both governments should convert their political commitment into concrete projects and measurable achievements.
Yılmaz conveyed condolences from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan over the martyrdom of Iran's late Leader and expressed sympathy for Iranian victims of the recent conflict, including schoolchildren killed in Minab. He said the Turkish people shared the grief of the Iranian nation.
The Turkish vice president said Ankara had worked with regional partners, including Qatar and Pakistan, to help prevent the conflict from escalating and welcomed the ceasefire agreement, expressing hope it would lead to lasting regional peace.
Yılmaz said the conflict highlighted the importance of regional stability for global energy supplies and maritime trade, particularly through the Strait of Hormuz. He added that lifting restrictions and sanctions on Iran could create new opportunities for regional and international economic cooperation.
Highlighting future priorities, Yılmaz said both countries should focus on expanding cooperation in trade, energy, transit and investment while accelerating the work of bilateral joint commissions and implementing existing agreements. He said stronger Iran-Turkey relations would contribute to greater regional stability and reduce opportunities for outside interference.
