According to IRIB News, Mohammad-Sadeq Azimifar said one of the largest transportation operations in the country's history is being organized, with millions of people expected to travel by road, rail and air to Tehran, Qom and Mashhad for the ceremonies.
Given the unprecedented volume of travel, he said, ensuring a stable fuel supply for private vehicles, buses, public transportation fleets, trains and aircraft has become a top priority. Fuel production at refineries has been increased to maximum capacity, and strategic fuel reserves have been built up at key locations to prevent disruptions during the event.
17,000 Fuel Tankers Mobilized
Azimifar, who also serves as deputy oil minister, said authorities anticipate logistical challenges due to heavy traffic and large crowds. To address them, about 17,000 fuel tanker trucks have been mobilized and deployed to high-demand areas across the country.
He added that the number of fuel stations has been expanded, while about 60 mobile fueling units have been positioned alongside existing stations to speed up refueling operations. Temporary adjustments will also be made to fuel management measures, including fueling limits and restrictions on station cards, to reduce waiting times.
Public Urged to Use Mass Transit
Azimifar called on the public to cooperate with authorities, noting that the country's transportation infrastructure was not originally designed to accommodate such a large-scale movement of people. He also referred to recent damage to some refining facilities during enemy attacks.
He urged travelers to make maximum use of public transportation, avoid single-occupancy vehicle trips, fill vehicles to capacity where possible, refuel before departure, and switch off engines during extended traffic delays. Upon arrival in Tehran, participants are advised to use designated parking areas and rely on free public transportation for travel within the city.
Azimifar thanked the public for its cooperation, saying queues at fuel stations are unavoidable given the expected crowds, and emphasizing that patience and orderly conduct will help ensure the continuous supply of fuel throughout the event.
