According to president.ir, Pezeshkian said recent military actions by the United States and Israel against Iran were unjustified and resulted in the deaths of senior officials, military commanders and civilians, including children. He accused Israel of being a major source of instability in the region and criticized Western countries for what he described as double standards.
The Iranian president said Iran’s adversaries had sought to weaken the country by targeting infrastructure and civilians but failed to achieve their objectives because of the resilience of the Iranian people.
Pezeshkian also reiterated Iran’s position on future negotiations, saying the country would not discuss its ballistic missile program. He expressed distrust toward the United States, arguing that Iran had faced military attacks while pursuing diplomatic engagement. Despite this, he said Iran remains committed to dialogue and peace.
He stressed that Iran would not accept what it considers unlawful demands and would continue to honor its commitments under recent agreements, provided other parties also uphold their obligations.
Highlighting Iran’s long history and civilization, Pezeshkian rejected claims that external pressure could undermine the country’s national identity and development. He also expressed Iran’s readiness to expand cooperation with Islamic nations, particularly Pakistan, across a wide range of sectors.
“We should not allow forces seeking division to pit Muslim nations against one another,” he said, adding that closer Iran-Pakistan cooperation should be reflected in future agreements and joint initiatives.
Sharif welcomed recent diplomatic developments and said agreements reached through mediation efforts had created a valuable opportunity for peace.
The Pakistani prime minister voiced support for Iran’s right to maintain its defense capabilities and said recent understandings did not include discussions on Iran’s ballistic missile program.
Sharif described relations between Iran and Pakistan as being at their strongest level and praised Iran’s human resources, leadership and economic potential. He said Iran’s historical legacy and strategic importance would enable it to remain a major regional power despite damage caused by recent conflicts.
The Pakistani leader also called for a major increase in bilateral trade. While previous targets envisioned annual trade reaching $10 billion, Sharif said both countries should now aim for $30 billion in yearly commerce.
He said new trade and transit routes, modern customs procedures and stronger banking cooperation could help facilitate greater economic exchange. Sharif added that Pezeshkian’s visit to Pakistan demonstrated the high level of mutual trust between the two neighboring countries.
