Iran Ready to Supply Energy to Europe

TEHRAN Sept 24 (Shana)--Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani has voiced Tehran’s readiness to supply energy to Europe via Austria.

“Iran can be a secure energy center for Europe,” Rouhani said in a meeting with Austrian President Hans Fischer in New York.
“Iran enjoys unique conditions in the energy sector,” said the Iranian president.
The construction of Iran Gas Trunkline-9 (IGAT-9) will improve gas delivery in the west of the country and facilitate future gas exports to European countries, a senior gas official said recently.
Managing-Director of Iran Gas Engineering and Development Company Ali-Reza Gharibi said the 1,800-kilometer pipeline is being stretched from Assaluyeh in southern Iran to western and northwestern provinces.
“With the completion of IGAT-9, 10 mcm will be added to the country’s gas delivery capacity,” he said, adding that the trunkline has 17 pressure booster stations.
National Iranian Gas Company plans to invest 8.5 billion dollars in IGAT-9 to feed western provinces.
The IGAT-9 designing is expected to be completed in two months. It will feed gas into pipelines crossing Bazargan border point.
IGAT-9 (known as Europe Gas Export Line), 1,800 meters long, originates in east of Assaluyeh and passes by western provinces of Khuzestan, Ilam, Kurdistan and Azerbaijan and reaches to Turkey’s border.
