Ahmadinejad Squandered Petrodollars

TEHRAN August 9 (Shana)--The administration of former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad spent Iran’s oil money gained over five decades during his eight years in office up to 2013.

Iran’s oil revenues under Ahmadinejad were 3.7 times higher than under his predecessor Mohammad Khatami.
According to official data, Iran’s oil revenues amounted to 172.748 billion dollars during the eight years in office of Khatami, while the revenues reached 633.47 billion dollars under Ahmadinejad.
Iran earned 110 billion dollars in oil revenues during years of war with Iraq (1980-1988).
The administration of Ahmadinejad sent more than 511 billion dollars on imports.
Under Ahmadinejad, Iran’s oil sector was slapped with tough embargo. The country’s oil exports dropped to 800,000 b/d from 2 mb/d under the impact of sanctions.
