Gas output surge plan launched

SHANA (Tehran) – The oil Ministry has launched an accelerated program to boost onshore natural gas production, with authorities mobilizing all available resources to increase supply alongside field development and associated gas recovery projects, Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad said.

Paknejad said the country’s oil and gas industry maintained operations throughout the recent 12-day and 40-day conflict periods, with development activities across oil and gas fields continuing uninterrupted nationwide.

In addition to ongoing work at the South Pars gas field and offshore production platforms, he said an emergency gas production enhancement plan has been defined for onshore operations and has now entered the implementation phase.

The minister noted that the initiative covers all fields operated by the Central Oil Fields Company and is designed to maximize existing production capacity. Under the program, gas output is expected to increase across all covered fields.

Five Associated Gas Recovery Projects Near Startup

Paknejad also highlighted progress in associated gas collection projects, saying they remain a key priority for the ministry. He noted that 30 contracts related to associated gas recovery are currently under implementation.

According to the minister, five associated gas recovery projects are nearing completion and are expected to come online soon. The projects are aimed at reducing gas flaring, improving environmental performance and capturing valuable hydrocarbon resources that would otherwise be wasted.

The recovered gas will be redirected into the production chain, creating additional value for the oil industry while supporting broader energy supply objectives.

Paknejad said several major associated gas collection projects have been completed over the past 18 months. He added that implementation has accelerated compared with previous years, driven in part by greater private-sector participation, and that the program remains on track for further expansion.
