Petroleum Ministry Welcomes Participation in Building Refineries

TEHRAN May08 (Shana)--Iran's Petroleum Ministry supports the investors willing to take part in building gas condensate refineries in Iran and will assist them with discount in delivery of gas condensate as feedstock.

Director of integrated planning at the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC), Shahaboddin Metaji, announced this today in a conference held on the sidelines of the 19th Oil Show, adding at present Russia and Qatar are the leading producers of gas condensate in the world.

He added Iran should be able to compete with its rivals in the sector by deploying new technologies, and expressed regret that may Iran’s gas condensate projects are lagging behind the schedule, 

He further referred to the building of the Persian Gulf gas condensate refinery and Borzoyeh Petrochemical complex.

Criticizing past years' policies regarding gas condensate, he said fortunately new government and new Petroleum Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh has paid attention to the sector and Zanganeh personally pursues the issue.

According to Metaji, Petroleum Ministry plans to build 8 gas condensate refineries in Siraf, each with production capacity of 60 thousand barrels per day.
