Court Orders CNPC-Aktobemunaigaz To Stop Using Pipeline

Aktobe - The Aktobe Court in Kazakhstan has ruled in favor of the regional department for subsoil operations and environmental protection in a suit against China National Petroleum Corporation subsidiary CNPC-Aktobemunaigaz.

The suit ordered the company to stop building and operating the Kenkiyak-Zhanazhol pipeline until permission is received from the state ecological authorities and a ruling is received from a state commission for the launch of the pipeline. CNPC-Aktobemunaigaz was accused earlier of illegally building the 30-km pipeline. This pipeline was discovered on April 23 by specialists from the regional department for subsoil operations and environmental protection during an unplanned check, sanctioned by the regional Prosecutor's Office. Investigators discovered a pipeline passing through Temir and Mugalzhar districts in Aktobe region, transporting hydrocarbons from the Kenkiyak field to the Zhanazhol Oil Refinery, belonging to CNPC- Aktobemunaigaz.
