Tavakoli said the boilerhouse modernization initiative was launched in line with the Oil Ministry’s broader strategy to optimize natural gas consumption, reduce air pollution, lower energy costs for consumers and create employment opportunities across the country.
“The number of upgraded units and the volume of gas saved demonstrate the program’s steady growth and the increasing participation of subscribers,” he said.
According to Tavakoli, since 2021, a total of 125,800 boilerhouse units have been upgraded nationwide. The improvements have resulted in cumulative gas savings of 739.704 million cubic meters, marking the highest level of savings recorded through the program to date.
He added that the provinces of Isfahan, Razavi Khorasan and East Azarbaijan posted the strongest performance in implementing boilerhouse upgrades and achieving energy savings.
Tavakoli also highlighted the development of “energy operators” as one of NIGC’s key initiatives. He said the program has been prioritized under directives from the oil minister and in accordance with national strategic policies.
As part of the effort, 77 contracts have been signed across various provinces to expand the role of energy operators and support further improvements in energy efficiency, he said.
