Fuel infrastructure rebuild accelerates

SHANA (Tehran) – The reconstruction of fuel supply infrastructure damaged during the recent conflict is moving forward at full speed, according to the head of the National Iranian Oil Engineering and Construction Company (NIOEC).

Mohammad Meshkinfam said the company is committed to restoring all damaged facilities and ensuring uninterrupted energy security through the use of domestic capabilities and more resilient technologies.

Referring to damage caused by what he described as hostile attacks on fuel infrastructure during the 12-day conflict in June, 2025, Meshkinfam said parts of the Shahran oil depot in northwestern Tehran and the Rey oil depot sustained damage, making their rapid restoration the company’s top priority.

Because of the Shahran depot’s critical role in supplying fuel to large parts of Tehran, repair work, debris removal and tank reconstruction began immediately, he said. Through intensive efforts by engineering and operational teams, the damaged tanks were repaired and returned to service after completing safety inspections, preventing disruptions to fuel distribution.

Reconstruction Continues Amid Crisis Response

Meshkinfam said a second wave of attacks targeted facilities in Rey, Shahran, Karaj and Qouchak, causing more extensive damage and prompting an emergency mission to restore operations.

Following field assessments, the company developed a three-phase reconstruction plan aimed at returning the facilities to full operational capacity, he said.

The first phase focused on maintaining fuel distribution and included the implementation of emergency bypass systems and alternative product transfer lines at the Rey and Karaj oil depots.

Meshkinfam praised employees for their dedication, noting that the initial reconstruction phase was completed within about one month during the height of the attacks and coincided with the Nowruz holidays in spring 2026.

Working around the clock, company personnel completed the bypass projects by mid-April, helping avert disruptions to fuel supplies in the Tehran and Karaj metropolitan areas, he said.

Meshkinfam emphasized that subsequent phases of reconstruction are now underway at full capacity. He said all damaged facilities will be restored using upgraded technologies and enhanced resilience measures, ensuring that no disruption to the country’s energy security occurs and that all affected capacities return to service stronger than before.
