According to the government’s official information portal, a meeting between Hossein Afshin, vice president for science, technology and knowledge-based economy, and Mohsen Paknejad was held Tuesday at the Oil Ministry headquarters.
The meeting focused on areas of cooperation between the vice presidency for science and the Oil Ministry aimed at using the capacities of NTBFs and the country’s technology ecosystem to restore and rehabilitate damage caused by the third imposed war in the oil and petrochemical sectors.
Discussions centered on identifying technological needs, prioritizing projects and strengthening the direct role of advanced technologies in repairing infrastructure and increasing the resilience of the energy sector.
Afshin presented assessments of the scale of damage in the oil and petrochemical sectors and outlined conditions in war-affected provinces. The presentation laid the groundwork for greater coordination in operational decision-making and the design of short- and long-term cooperation plans.
He also shared findings from his provincial visits, describing the challenges facing affected companies across the country and stressing the need for practical measures and facilitation mechanisms to accelerate the transfer of technological achievements into operational use.
According to the report, the two sides agreed to launch phased and coordinated cooperation between the vice presidency for science and technology and the Oil Ministry to restore damaged oil industry facilities and infrastructure by relying on the capabilities of NTBFs and the national technology ecosystem.
The cooperation is intended to strengthen coordination between the government’s scientific and technological bodies and executive decision-makers, streamline overlapping procedures and accelerate the implementation of approved measures.
The agreement was described as a step toward further linking the oil industry’s operational needs with the country’s scientific and technological capabilities while creating supportive mechanisms for deploying technology in reconstruction and sustainable development efforts.
