Oil Minister calls PR offices ‘truthful voice’ of energy sector

SHANA (Tehran) — Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad said public relations departments across the oil industry must serve as the “truthful voice” of the nation’s public servants, emphasizing transparency and effective engagement with audiences as key priorities for the sector.

In a message marking Communications and Public Relations Day on May 17, Paknejad praised public relations teams for their role in informing the public, fostering hope and supporting employees across the oil industry.

He said PR offices had played a vital role in recent months by explaining the country’s conditions, highlighting the oil industry’s achievements, strengthening public trust and countering what he described as unfair narratives through coverage of the around-the-clock efforts of oil workers.

“The media environment, especially today, is a battleground of narratives,” Paknejad said. “In such circumstances, public relations departments in the oil industry must be the truthful voice of the servants of this nation.”

The minister also stressed the need for a transformation plan for the oil industry’s public relations sector to address future challenges and communication needs.

He said drafting a comprehensive public relations framework for the oil industry — envisioned as an overarching policy document and future roadmap — would represent a major step toward organizational excellence, with a focus on transparency and constructive interaction with audiences.

Paknejad extended his congratulations to public relations staff across the sector and expressed hope that, through continued unity, awareness and dedication, they would play an even stronger role in advancing the country’s progress, dignity and energy-sector development.
