Over 50 contractor companies authorized to help optimize gas consumption

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company announced the issuance of temporary licenses for 52 applicant contractor companies, calling the move the beginning of a new chapter in gas consumption optimization.

According to the NIGC, the third meeting to review natural gas consumption optimization programs was held Saturday, via videoconference. The meeting was attended by CEO Saeid Tavakoli, along with senior managers and officials from provincial gas companies.

During the session, participants reviewed measures taken over the past week by subsidiary companies to manage and reduce gas consumption.

Tavakoli emphasized the importance of maintaining and improving the effectiveness of optimization programs, as well as closely monitoring their implementation. He said notable efforts by subsidiary companies — including boiler room optimization, replacement of high-consumption heaters, and reduced usage in greenhouses, poultry farms and other high-demand sectors — have played a significant role in controlling gas consumption and managing the country’s energy resources more efficiently.

The deputy oil minister for gas affairs also highlighted close cooperation with the private sector and contractor companies in consumption management. He said that with the implementation of optimization plans and improvements in service delivery, 52 applicant companies have so far received temporary certification to operate as contractors focused on improving and correcting natural gas consumption.

Tavakoli described the experiences, challenges and achievements of these programs across various provinces as valuable. He added that continuing such meetings and sharing experiences are effective steps toward achieving set goals and ensuring the stability of the national gas network.

He also expressed appreciation for the efforts of headquarters and provincial staff, stressing the importance of sustaining these initiatives and the role of media in raising awareness, education and promoting a culture of efficient energy consumption.
