President: Islamic Republic symbolizes unity of “Islamic” and “Iranian” identity

SHANA (Tehran) - The president said in a message marking Farvardin 12 (April 1) that the Islamic Republic represents the bond between “Islamic” and “Iranian” identity, adding that these two pillars have preserved and strengthened the Iranian nation’s identity and existence against threats and hostility.

In his message, Masoud Pezeshkian described April 1 as a day that reflects the Iranian people’s historic will and their pursuit of independence, dignity and rejection of domination. He said the nation, through a decisive vote, determined the country’s future based on the Islamic Republic and the will of the people, opening a lasting chapter in Iran’s history.
He called Islamic Republic Day “a day of the people,” noting that for nearly five decades Iranians have chosen independence and freedom over dependence and authoritarianism. He said the nation has safeguarded the legacy of the Islamic Republic — which is the result of sacrifices by thousands — with dedication and commitment.
Pezeshkian said the Islamic Republic embodies the connection between Islamic and Iranian identity, which are two fundamental elements that have upheld the nation in the face of threats.
He added that this year’s commemoration carries deeper meaning, as recent events have highlighted the role of these elements in maintaining national resilience and defending the country’s ideals.
Referring to recent conflicts, he said attacks by adversaries demonstrate that “dominating powers” remain opposed to Iran’s independence, dignity and progress. He said the Iranian people’s resilience and patience reflect the same spirit of independence first demonstrated in 1979.
He said Iranians have once again shown unity, awareness and determination in defending national sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasizing that the nation remains committed to its path of independence.
Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for the public’s patience and solidarity, calling it a key national asset in overcoming challenges and countering obstacles.
He said the government will use all available resources, backed by public support and Leader guidance, to protect national independence, ensure security and advance the country’s development.
The president also honored the memory of those martyred, including victims of recent conflicts, and expressed hope that continued unity would lead to progress, prosperity and national strength.
“I am confident that with this unity and social cohesion, we will overcome challenges and build a bright future for our country,” he said.
