Iran commissions 800 kilometers of gas pipelines in 1404

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of the Iran Gas Engineering and Development Company said the commissioning of 800 kilometers of transmission pipelines and new gas compression facilities has strengthened Iran’s energy infrastructure for equitable and sustainable gas distribution.

According to the company, CEO Behnam Mirzaei said extensive national gas industry projects were brought online during this year’s Ten-Day Dawn celebrations. He said a record of more than 800 kilometers of critical gas pipelines was commissioned this year, marking a new phase of network stability.

Mirzaei added that 310 kilometers of the Ahvaz-Kouhdasht gas transmission pipeline became operational during the celebrations, significantly improving supply stability in the country’s western corridor.

Strategic projects in the north and northwest

Mirzaei cited the Rasht-Chelvand gas transmission line as another completed project. The 151-kilometer pipeline was built to enhance the safety and reliability of gas transmission in Gilan and Ardabil provinces, helping ensure stable supply in Ardabil and neighboring regions.

He said the 55-kilometer Chelvand-Ardabil pipeline, beyond securing supply for the province, provides energy infrastructure needed for greenhouses and agricultural industries in the northwest.

Mirzaei said the 78-kilometer (48-mile) Nour-Kelarabad gas transmission pipeline has improved reliability and met natural gas demand for industries, power plants and households in western Mazandaran.

He also highlighted the 22-kilometer Polour-Vana gas feed pipeline, which became operational despite difficult geographic and climate conditions, supporting expansion of the northern gas network.

Boosting transmission capacity

Mirzaei said several gas pressure-boosting stations were commissioned. In central Iran, the Dehshir station in Yazd province is now operational, while the Ardestan station is expected to come online soon. With both stations completed, the pressure-boosting chain along the Eighth National Gas Trunkline will be finalized, raising capacity to 110 million cubic meters per day.

He added that the Shahid Akhlaqi (Borazjan 6) pressure-boosting facility in Bushehr province has been commissioned. With a daily capacity of 107 million cubic meters and domestically manufactured turbocompressors, equipment and control systems, the facility significantly reinforces the national gas grid.

Mirzaei said the Shahid Bagheri (Khormuj 6) station, also in Bushehr province, is operational with a daily transmission capacity of 110 million cubic meters. Equipped with Iranian turbocompressors and a standby unit, the station enhances the reliability of the Sixth National Gas Trunkline.
