The basket gained $1.87 to reach $67 a barrel, up from $65.13 on Wednesday (Jan. 28), the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries said.
The OPEC basket comprises 12 crude grades from member countries, including Algeria’s Saharan Blend, Congo’s Djeno, Equatorial Guinea’s Zafiro, Gabon’s Rabi Light, Iran Heavy, Iraq’s Basra Light, Kuwait Export, Libya’s Es Sider, Nigeria’s Bonny Light, Saudi Arabia’s Arab Light, the UAE’s Murban and Venezuela’s Merey.
Benchmark crude prices were also higher. As of Friday (Jan. 30), West Texas Intermediate traded at $65.39 a barrel, while Brent crude stood at $70.65 a barrel.
