TEHRAN (PIN) – Concurrent with the Government Week (Aug. 23-30), the third Azerbaijan pipeline was officially inaugurated in Saveh today in presence of the Iranian Oil Minister.

According to PIN, in the second day of the Government Week, the pipeline as one of infrastructural projects in the country came on stream in the country.

The pipeline with the length of 737km and transportation capacity of 50mm cm/d that could be climbed to 70mm cm/d will link Saveh city to Uromiah in West Azerbaijan province.

Commissioning the third Azerbaijan gas pipeline will prevent the outflow of over $7 billion a year.

Taking the average price of a barrel of crude oil at $100 and one cubic meter of natural gas at ¢30, it is concluded that replacing oil products with natural gas will save over $22 million per day which will sum up to $7.3 billion per year.

Third Azerbaijan gas pipeline will help tackle gas supply deficit particularly in the country’s western and northwestern provinces.

Some Rls8000bn ($800.872mm) have been spent on establishing the pipeline.

Shahid Mofatteh, Zanjan 3 and 4, Sahand, and residential, commertial and industrial sections in Hamedan, East and West Azerbaijan, Kordestan and Zanjan provinces are the main receivers of the gas.
