South Pars produces near 175m barrels of gas condensate

SHANA () – The South Pars Gas Complex produced more than 174 million barrels of gas condensate in the first nine months of the current year, helping ensure a strategic feedstock supply for the Persian Gulf Star Refinery and strengthen the country’s energy security, the complex’s managing director said.

According to the South Pars Gas Complex, Gholamabbas Hosseini said gas condensate is a high value-added product that, in addition to direct exports, plays a key role in supplying feedstock to downstream industries and producing high-value petroleum products. He said increased production in recent years has directly boosted revenues from the sale of byproducts.

Hosseini described the South Pars Gas Complex as the country’s largest natural gas processing hub, noting that by extracting sour gas from the shared South Pars field and processing it at multiple refineries, the complex plays a decisive role in supplying feedstock to petrochemical plants in the region and to the Persian Gulf Star Refinery, known as the world’s largest gas condensate refinery.

He added that by relying on domestic expertise, implementing development projects and using modern technologies, the complex has expanded production capacity, improved the stability of feedstock supply and contributed significantly to strengthening energy security, economic growth and national value creation.
