Sepehr and Jofeir output tops 34m barrels

SHANA (Tehran) – Cumulative oil production from the Sepehr and Jofeir oil fields has surpassed 34.5 million barrels, according to a report presented at the 24th meeting of the Joint Management Committee for the fields’ development and production increase plan.

The Oil Engineering and Development Company said the meeting was held Monday with committee members, including representatives of the National Iranian Oil Company, the project operator and contractors. Participants reviewed a comprehensive report on physical and operational progress and assessed the status of drilling, production and surface facilities development. The committee also evaluated contractor performance and approved the project’s latest financial statements.

Employer-side JMC members stressed the strategic importance of the Sepehr and Jofeir fields in Iran’s oil production portfolio, calling for balanced development, production from the Ilam formation, and increased heavy crude output alongside light crude. They said such an approach is key to sustaining production and protecting reservoir integrity.

During the meeting, officials announced that cumulative production from the two fields has now exceeded 34.5 million barrels, underscoring the project’s role in boosting output and advancing the oil industry’s broader goals.

The committee also reviewed issues related to health, safety and the environment, optimization of execution processes, and improved coordination between technical and operational units, adopting measures to accelerate development programs.

The meeting concluded with a decision to follow up on approved resolutions within set time frames and to present and evaluate progress at the next JMC session.
