Gholamreza Koushki said consumption has risen since the start of the week alongside falling temperatures across much of the country. On Sunday, Dec. 24, usage reached about 610 million cubic meters, accounting for nearly 70% of the nation’s total gas production, he said.
Koushki warned that continued cold weather in the coming days is expected to push demand even higher. If current conditions persist, household and commercial gas consumption could surpass 650 million cubic meters per day, he said.
He stressed the need for public cooperation to maintain the stability of the gas network, particularly in colder regions and at the far ends of the system. Managing consumption across households, businesses, government offices, schools, hospitals and public centers is essential to safely navigate the cold spell ahead, he said.
