Iran Contributes $10m to OPEC Fund

TEHRAN – Iran will pay 9.88 million dollars to the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries’ fund as part of its financial commitments toward the fund.

The Public Relations Department of Management and Planning Organization stated that the Cabinet has allocated the sun in its session dated May 6 on the basis of a proposal forwarded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance and on the strength of the legal bill on the Iranian government’s commitments toward OPEC fund.

According to the Cabinet ratification, the Central Bank of Iran has been authorized to pay 9.88 million dollars or its equivalent in euro to OPEC fund as part of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s obligation.

The Management and Planning Organization is also obliged to include the said sum in the budget bill of the next Iranian calendar year (starting March 2009).

The ratification has been notified to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance and the Central Bank of Iran on May 12.
