TEHRAN – The National Iranian Oil Company signed 12,500 billion rials worth of contracts for purchasing oil industry equipment from domestic manufacturers during the past Iranian calendar year (ended March 20, 2007).

Managing director of Kala Naft Manufacture Maintenance and Procurement Company of Tehran told reporters that the figure was 550 percent higher than the corresponding figure for the preceding year.

Addressing a meeting of the National Iranian South Oil Company in Ahvaz, Ali Keivanara, added that the equipment included various types of commodities used by oil industry whose manufacture contracts have been signed within framework of the law which calls for supporting domestic industries.

Supporting domestic industries and developing them is an undeniable must for us and Ministry of Petroleum backs those industries that meet its need for equipment and other commodities,” he said.

The official further noted that the National Iranian South Oil Company is the first and foremost priority of Kala Naft Manufacture Maintenance and Procurement Company, which provides it with needed commodities and services.

Seifollah Khajavian, director of logistics and commodities affairs of the National Iranian South Oil Company, also stated that the company is the biggest customer of Kala Naft Manufacture Maintenance and Procurement Company of Tehran and called for more consolidated coordination between the two companies.
