According to the Tehran Province Gas Company, Alireza Avani said the special inspection patrol officially launched Wednesday, Dec. 3, to monitor gas use in Tehran’s government offices and public spaces. He said that during the cold season, all executive and public institutions in the province will be under continuous supervision, and compliance with Cabinet-approved consumption standards is mandatory.
He said the initiative deploys 120 monitoring and inspection teams that will check indoor temperatures and heating system performance around the clock in offices and public facilities.
Avani said the teams are required not only to check office temperatures during working hours, but also to monitor boiler rooms and heating systems after hours and on holidays to ensure they are fully shut down.
Agencies Urged to Join National Energy-Saving Campaign
Avani said maintaining a maximum indoor comfort temperature of 20 degrees Celsius, turning on heating systems one hour before the workday begins, shutting them down one hour before offices close, and turning off heating entirely on holidays are mandatory rules. Noncompliance is considered a violation, and inspectors are required to issue warnings.
He said that after a written warning, repeated violations will result in cutting off the gas supply with no exceptions.
Avani also warned against using radiant heaters in outdoor areas. Under Cabinet regulations, any use of outdoor radiant heating equipment is a violation, he said, adding that the gas supply to noncompliant facilities will be cut if such cases are found.
Calling on agency leaders to join the national energy-saving campaign, Avani said the company’s mission is to promote a sustainable culture of energy consumption and ensure households receive reliable heating.
He also urged residents to report any gas leaks, waste or related incidents by calling the emergency gas hotline at 194.
