Iran Khodro Designs Products to Use Dual Fuel

TEHRAN - Director of CNG-fueled vehicles at Iran Khodro Company stated that if needed infrastructures were provided for more CNG consumption, Iran Khodro would be ready to convert gasoline-fueled automobiles to a dual-fuel system as of the next year.

Feizbakhsh broke the news during a roundtable themed, 'CNG Replacement, a Way to Tackle Gasoline Shortage' held at P.I.N., and announced that Samand sedan was designed to operate on dual fuel. "Paykan and Paykan RD will be converted to the dual-fuel system by the year-end, while Peugeot 405 will be produced to operate on dual-fuel system as of next year," he said. Feizbakhsh noted that several kinds of CNG-based cars would be introduced in 2005, which would use gasoline as the second fuel. "The next step would be manufacturing vehicles that only use natural gas," he said. He noted that using CNG was the most plausible solution for Iran that would both reduce gasoline consumption and environmental pollution. "Motivational factors such as considering tax reductions should be used in addition to information to encourage people use gas-fueled cars," he noted.
