Keyvan Tariqati, project manager for the Farzad B gas field development, announced the decision on the sidelines of the second specialized workshop on site selection studies for the field’s onshore facilities, the Pars Oil and Gas Company reported.
Tariqati said the refinery site for the Farzad B development project—one of Iran’s major national energy projects—was selected based on environmental considerations, civil defense requirements, natural risk assessments, social and economic conditions, access to infrastructure, and proximity to offshore installations.
He added that the team applied modern multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) techniques to determine the optimal location. Seven scenarios were developed and assessed using the VIKOR method, after which the top-ranked option was chosen following detailed reviews.
The second specialized workshop on the site selection studies for the Farzad B gas field and other future development projects in the Pars 3 area of Bushehr Province was attended by managers, experts, and representatives from the National Iranian Oil Company’s Integrated Planning Directorate, Pars Oil and Gas Company, the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone Organization, and Petropars.
