Rise in residential gas use begins; daily average reaches 206 mcm

SHANA (Tehran) – Data from the first week of the Iranian month of Mehr show that power plants continue to dominate natural gas consumption, while residential, commercial, and small industrial users recorded a steady increase, averaging more than 206 million cubic meters per day.

According to national consumption statistics from Sept. 27–Oct. 3, 2025, power plants remained the top consumers of gas, followed by the residential, commercial, and small industrial sectors, and then large industries.

On Saturday, Sept. 27, power plants consumed 282.56 million cubic meters, large industries used 171.87 million, and residential, commercial, and small industries received 197.92 million cubic meters, for a total of 652.35 million cubic meters.

On Sunday, Sept. 28, consumption rose to 298.01 million cubic meters for power plants, 173.81 million for large industries, and 195.31 million for the residential and commercial sector, totaling 667.13 million cubic meters.

On Monday, Sept. 29, power plants used 283.39 million cubic meters, large industries 171.78 million, and residential, commercial, and small industries 205.77 million, totaling 660.94 million cubic meters.

On Tuesday, Sept. 30, gas use stood at 276.39 million cubic meters for power plants, 171.62 million for large industries, and 208.93 million for the residential, commercial, and small industrial group, reaching 656.94 million cubic meters in total.

On Wednesday, Oct. 1, power plants consumed 275.28 million cubic meters, large industries 175.24 million, and residential, commercial, and small industries 204.46 million, totaling 654.98 million cubic meters.

On Thursday, Oct. 2, consumption reached 263.53 million cubic meters for power plants, 173.93 million for large industries, and 220.24 million for the residential and commercial group, bringing total daily use to 657.7 million cubic meters.

Finally, on Friday, Oct. 3, power plants used 252.44 million cubic meters, large industries 173.32 million, and residential, commercial, and small industries 210.81 million, for a total of 636.57 million cubic meters.

Overall, in the first week of Mehr, power plants averaged about 276 million cubic meters of gas per day, maintaining their position as the country’s largest consumers. Meanwhile, residential, commercial, and small industrial consumption showed an upward trend, peaking at 220.24 million cubic meters on Thursday.
