Majid Boujardadeh stated, "The communication network among subsidiaries of the Ministry of Oil must be strengthened to make optimal use of all available capacities."
Boujardadeh, speaking Wednesday during the elections for the fifth term of the Regional Oil Industry PR Managers’ Coordination Council, highlighted the importance of reinforcing overarching PR policies in the oil sector.
"Significant achievements and events have occurred in the oil industry over the past seven months, some of which were new and complex due to overlapping government transitions," he said.
Referring to the early onset of winter at the start of the 14th administration’s term and the numerous challenges faced, he added, "Winter in 1403 began earlier than usual, with average temperatures across the country dropping by about 3.5 degrees compared to previous years. In some months, the temperature decrease was even more pronounced, requiring precise and immediate planning to meet the country’s energy needs."
Boujardadeh continued, "What was crucial in this regard was the full cohesion and coordination within the Ministry of Oil, guided by the leadership and expertise of the oil minister and the appointment of skilled and experienced managers across various sectors. This enabled the oil industry to successfully fulfill its duties during last year’s harsh winter."
Energy consumption management under difficult conditions
Boujardadeh noted that gas consumption last autumn rose significantly compared to previous years, jumping from about 420 million cubic meters in the residential and commercial sectors in early November to 716 million cubic meters at winter’s peak.
"This surge created major challenges in fuel supply management," he said. "However, thanks to the unified and relentless efforts of our colleagues across the Ministry of Oil’s four key companies—National Iranian Oil Company, National Iranian Gas Company, National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company, and National Petrochemical Company—the crises were effectively managed."
Regarding this year’s Nowruz holidays (March 15–April 4), he added, "With over 500 million trips taken, nearly 3 billion liters of gasoline were consumed nationwide. Through careful management, special efforts, and preemptive planning—by the grace of God—there were no fuel shortages, and all gas stations operated smoothly."
Need to strengthen oil industry communication networks
The director-general stressed the necessity of enhancing communication networks within the oil industry, stating, "The network among subsidiaries must be reinforced to maximize the use of existing capacities across different sectors. Achieving this goal requires adopting advanced technologies like artificial intelligence and modern communication tools."
Boujardadeh underscored PR’s critical role in crisis management, saying, "Public relations should act as a coordination hub, ensuring unity among different sectors. Additionally, leveraging expert consultants in this field can improve performance and enhance effectiveness."
He further emphasized that managing energy-related crises demands full coordination across all oil industry sectors. "Vigilance, preparedness, agility, and alignment with government and organizational policies are also key areas that oil industry PR teams must prioritize," he concluded.
