Behnam Mirzaei stated that the project is currently underway, with parallel operations in above-ground and underground sectors, as well as the fabrication of key turbo-compressor equipment.
He emphasized that this expansion plays a critical role in ensuring gas supply stability in northern and northeastern Iran and remains a top priority for the company.
Mirzaei noted that the second phase of the Shourijeh gas storage project in Khangiran is being executed under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model with private sector involvement, based on mutual commitments and a defined schedule.
The BOT contract was signed with MAPNA Group following legal and technical reviews, with financing responsibilities falling on the investor. Progress is on track thanks to adequate funding, and the project is expected to significantly boost Iran’s gas storage capacity.
