Azim Kalantari-Asl also stressed the need to reform certain processes in research and development and to leverage scientific theses in the industrial sector.
Kalantari-Asl, speaking Monday at the specialized meeting "Narratives of Technology Development" during the Third Petrotech Conference, highlighted the Leader's support for the advancement of domestic technologies.
He noted that the Supreme Leader has consistently backed scientific and research progress in the country and emphasized the need to intensify efforts in this field. Special attention to this area, he said, is an unavoidable necessity for the nation's advancement.
Kalantari-Asl stated that while technology is not a long-term issue, it requires continuous, focused, and measurable efforts to monitor changes and adjust development paths. He added that this process varies across industries and requires tailored approaches for each sector.
The head of the RIPI pointed to the time it takes for technology to move from the conceptual stage to widespread use in the oil industry, noting that globally, this process typically takes more than 10 to 15 years.
In sectors like computer engineering, the process is faster, but in industries such as automotive, the adoption of technology is more complex and time-consuming.
Kalantari-Asl discussed various models of technology development, explaining that some models quickly integrate into industry, while others require refinement and completion. He acknowledged that past support has yielded results but emphasized that much work remains to be done.
He also highlighted the potential of thousands of scientific theses across various fields, many of which can be applied in the oil industry. Some of these studies have already been implemented in centers like the Balal field, producing valuable results.
Kalantari-Asl stressed the need for necessary reforms in structures and processes to strengthen the research and technology sector. He expressed the institute's readiness to collaborate with other organizations and experts to develop effective solutions in this field.
