Following government policies to enhance energy network resilience and address power plant fuel supply challenges, recent reports indicate a significant rise in fuel production and delivery to power plants during the first six months of the 14th administration compared to the previous year.
This increase in fuel production and supply has directly improved power plant performance, reduced energy supply issues, and played a key role in achieving long-term sustainable energy goals.
8% increase in fuel production
According to recent data, average daily fuel production reached 121 million liters in December 2024, a 7% increase compared to the same period last year (December 2024), when production stood at 113 million liters per day.
Fuel production continued to rise due to this year’s cold winter and increased demand from power plants and industries, reaching a record 123 million liters per day in January. This represents a 14% increase compared to January 2024, when production was 108 million liters per day.
Additionally, average daily fuel production in 27 days to Feb. 15reached 122 million liters, a 14% increase compared to the same period last year, when production averaged 107 million liters per day.
Overall, fuel production during the first six months of the 14th administration totaled 21 billion liters, reflecting an 8% increase compared to the same period last year.
A 41% increase in power plant fuel delivery
Recent statistics show that an average of 21 million liters of fuel were delivered to power plants daily in September, a 31% increase compared to the 16 million liters delivered during the same period last year. In October, average daily deliveries reached 28 million liters, a 4% increase compared to October 2023. November saw a record-breaking daily delivery of 40 million liters, a 135% increase compared to the 17 million liters delivered in November 2023.
In December, average daily deliveries rose by 11 million liters to 51 million liters, a 46% increase compared to December 2023, when deliveries averaged 35 million liters per day. In January, deliveries reached an average of 54 million liters per day, a 32% increase compared to January 2023, when deliveries averaged 41 million liters per day. In February (from the 1st to the 27th), deliveries averaged 54 million liters per day, a 35% increase compared to the same period last year.
Overall, power plant fuel deliveries during the first six months of the 14th administration exceeded 7.4 billion liters, reflecting a 41% increase compared to the same period last year.
41% increase in liquid fuel consumption for power plants
Average daily liquid fuel consumption for power plants in the first 10 months of this Iranian year (started March 20, 2024) reached over 56 million liters, a 41% increase compared to the same period last year, when consumption averaged 40 million liters per day.
Transportation sector fuel consumption during the first 10 months of 2024 reached 189 million liters per day, a 6% increase compared to the same period last year, when consumption averaged 179 million liters per day.
According to available data, average daily consumption of petroleum products in the non-transportation sector (major and minor consumers) during the first 10 months of this year reached 39.6 million liters, a 2.7% increase compared to the same period last year, when consumption averaged 38.2 million liters per day.
Overall, petroleum product consumption in the first 10 months of 2024 reached 285 million liters per day, a 10.6% increase compared to the same period last year, when consumption averaged 257 million liters per day.
