Successive records set in sweet gas production

SHANA (Tehran) – The CEO of the National Iranian Gas Company emphasized that gas production in the country has broken records four times since the beginning of the 14th administration.

He stated that more than 872 million cubic meters of gas are currently produced and injected into the network daily.

Saeid Tavakoli, speaking on Sunday, provided a brief overview of the history of the gas industry in Iran.

He explained that the reason gas is considered a driver of development and a source of security in the country is due to the post-revolution approach, particularly after the imposed war, which positioned gas as a factor for economic growth.

This approach has led to improved living standards, national development, and enhanced security and comfort. It also aimed to promote justice and increase foreign currency revenues by replacing oil with gas in various sectors.

Tavakoli stressed that gas production records have been broken four times since the start of the 14th administration, noting that more than 872 million cubic meters of gas are currently produced and injected into the network daily.

He added that, through collaborative efforts and expert management decisions, many parts of the network have been operating and providing services beyond their designed capacity for an extended period.

Addressing gas supply imbalances, Tavakoli said that during cold seasons worldwide, consumption patterns shift in favor of the household sector. Industries and power plants, which can use alternative or secondary fuels, must demonstrate flexibility in such situations.
