Journalists the Frontline Fighters of Enlightenment

SHANA (Tehran) - In a message on National Journalists Day in Iran, Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji called journalists the frontline fighters of enlightenment.

In his message, the petroleum minister further said that journalism is not merely a job but a profession intertwined with sacred love and effort to create a better future.

“I would like to congratulate the National Journalists Day to the journalists and express my gratitude to those who have close cooperation with the oil industry to cover its developments.”, he said in his message on the occasion.

Iranians mark the Iranian calendar day of Mordad 17, today, as the National Journalists Day every year in a bid to pay tribute in honor of the martyred journalists.

The day was designated National Journalists Day in Iran after Taliban militants killed an Iranian correspondent of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) named Mahmoud Saremi along with some diplomats in the northern Afghan city of Mazar-i-Sharif in 1998.
