EOR Contract to be Signed with Iran Developers

TEHRAN (Shana) -- The director of monitoring oil and gas production of the National Iranian Oil Company said: "Soon the contract to enhance recovery of oil and gas wells will be signed with domestic companies."

Hormoz Qalavand said on Tuesday that the country's large oil and gas fields are in the second half of their life, adding: “Today, application of EOR methods is of great importance for achieving the goals in the industry’s outlook in the country.”

Pointing out that Iran's lightest oil is produced in Hengam Field and Iran's heaviest oil is produced in East Paydar Field, he clarified: “Artificial recovery methods, belt pumps, horizontal drilling, stimulation by acid-work in oil and gas wells, and injection of chemical and nano-based materials are some common ways to enhance oil and gas recovery in the world.”

The NIOC official further underlined the existence of 600 to 700 low-yield wells in the country, adding: "Soon, a contract to enhance recovery of oil and gas wells will be signed with domestic companies, and if the goals are met, such deals will be cemented for all oil wells of the country.”
