The state funeral of late Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was held in Tokyo on Tuesday in the presence of more than 4,000 domestic and foreign guests.
A few days after his death, Shinzo Abe's body was cremated in a private ceremony at a temple in Tokyo, and the casket containing his ashes would be buried at Tokyo's Budokan.
Abe was assassinated by 41-year-old Tetsuya Yamagami on July 8 while giving a speech in the election campaign in Nara and two days before the Japanese parliamentary elections.
Shinzo Abe was at the helm of Japanese politics from December 2012 to September 2020. He has been the longest serving Prime Minister of Japan.
