Owji Appoints MOP Special Envoy for Iraq

TEHRAN (Shana) – The Iranian Minister of Petroleum Javad Owji appointed Seyyed Abbas Beheshti as his special envoy for Iraq.

The text of Javad Owji's decree addressed to Beheshti is as follows: "Given your merits and background, and given the importance of Iraq in the policies of the administration of the Islamic Republic of Iran, you are hereby appointed “Special Envoy of the Minister of Petroleum for Iraq." It is expected that by relying on God Almighty, goals such as the following will be seriously considered:

- Identifying the capacities and potentials of the two countries in the field of trade in oil and petroleum products and coordinating them with the companies in charge of exports in the Ministry of Petroleum;

- Identifying and creating the necessary bases to ramp up the mutual presence of private sectors and investors in the oil industry of the two countries;

- Effective pursuit of the issue of oil barter with goods or participation in projects in coordination with the National Iranian Oil Companies and Naftiran Intertrade Company limited (NICO);

- Endeavoring to speed up settling gas export claims in coordination with the Central Bank and the National Iranian Gas Company;

- Considering information exchange on joint oil fields in coordination with the National Iranian Oil Company;

- Coordinating with the Iraqi Embassy in Tehran and subsequently the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baghdad to advance the above matters."
