Goreh-Jask Oil Pipeline Project 80% Complete: CEO

TEHRAN (Shana) – The CEO of the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC) said the Goreh-Jask national crude oil transfer project has for far progressed 80%.

Addressing a video call with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday, Touraj Dehghani said the project was given priority by the Ministry of Petroleum due to its strategic importance, and by providing all the required pipes from domestic manufacturers, its progress has accelerated and reached a record of 50% progress in the previous calendar year which ended on March 20.

“In the pipeline section, about 1,000 km of pipes have been supplied and sent to the site and the welding process, integration and pipe connections are in the final stages,” he said.

The official further added that in the final test and water test section, more than 70% progress has been reached and the final stages are near completion, noting: “In the stations section, in station number 2, with 80% progress, the final stages of tests and commissioning are remaining, and in other stations, the situation is the same and they are all going through final stages of completion.”

The project of transferring crude oil from Goreh to Jask begins from Goreh region of Genaveh county, Bushehr province, and passes through Bushehr, Fars and Hormuzgan provinces, to west of Jask to the terminal and offshore facilities for exporting crude oil and, in the future, petroleum products.

The project is being developed with a daily transfer capacity of one million barrels of crude oil and entails construction of a 42-inch pipeline with a length of 1,000 km with five pumping stations, two pigging stations and terminals and twenty 500,000-barrel tanks with a capacity of 10 million barrels of oil as well as offshore facilities for exporting crude oil.
